Train to Florence

Trying to plan a day trip from Rome to Florence in mid October, but I see 3 stations in Florence. Any advice is appreciated. Looking to return to rome in the evening. Week of 10/12-10/15. We land on 10/12 so thinking later in the week.

October booked

Booked our flight and airbnb this week for 10/12-10/20. Staying near Campo Fiori with the plan on trying to see 1 site a day and the rest just wandering enjoying the city. Already requested necropolis tour. There seems to be a LOT of ticket options for both Vatican and coliseum.

I'd like to do the top of St Peter's if possible but steps are no friend of the wife so she will probably wait at the top where the elevator stops. 111 days and counting. Ant tips are greatly appreciated

Rome in Oct

Trying to plan a trip for the wife's 60th birthday. Thinking 10/12-10/20. Neither one of us is that active, and the concern is how much walking is involved. I know that is the best way is to wander and see the city. I just don't want to be wiped out at the end of the day. Arriving Monday morning and planning on staying somewhere around Campo de Fiori. The basic plan is to try to see 1 main attraction each day and then wander around enjoying the city. Possibly a day trip to Florence as well. Is this achievable for 2 "older" people? Any tips or ideas are greatly appreciated.
