My Opinion on Fixing RWBY Volume 5: Overhaul

This is it, the Volume that Celtic goes on record saying resembles its source material the least. FRWBY by now has gone far beyond Fix Fic and into full on AU territory. Blake even gets a mostly completely original story and gets her own segment because I can't really compare to canon at that point

Volume 5 is widely considered one of if not the worst part of the series. A sentiment I agree with, but don't think means V5 is irredeemable unlike Celtic. As far as rewrites go, I think this is actually Celtic's best work so far. But that doesn't mean I think it's good either. There were some high highs and low lows. I'd say this is the most mixed/neutral my feelings on a FRWBY Volume have ever been. See ya in the comments

Thoughts of Fixing RWBY Volume 4: The Tipping Point

Volume 4 is the part where Celtic really starts to take FRWBY into its own direction rather than just a simple rewrite. From early minor decisions having domino effects to entirely new plots. The majority of the differences being a downgrade in one form or another, culminating in a rather infamous change that I'll delve in detail. I had a LOT of problems with this one

If this is your first time here, in the comments I'm posting the pros, cons, and mixed feelings of FRWBY as a first time viewer of this fanfic

Fixing RWBY Volume 3: End of Beacon

Well, here we are. What's considered a high point of mainline RWBY rewritten by Celtic Phoenix. There weren't really any No Fun Allowed changes so no segment on that. I had a lot more to say on this volume compared to the previous two, so I'm splitting my analysis into three comments unlike before. Hoping this won't become a trend but I don't have high hopes given how much longer FRWBY's gonna get. Believe me I'm trying to keep these as concise as I reasonably can

I'm also adding a dedicated ADAM (spelled in all caps every time) segment due to him being one of the most contentious characters in the series and any changes to him will set people off. Personally I think Adam was done decently enough but can see some but not all the complaints to him

While almost nothing this Volume made me as mad as Mt Glenn's endless changes, there was still a lot wrong with Celtic's approach and I found this to be a worse rewrite overall. A ton of his changes were either at the expense of the characters, completely redundant, or just bad on their own merits

Fixing RWBY Volume 2

Volume 2 went by pretty quick since it was half the length of the V1 remaster. I won't repeat points unless there's something new to add to it. Same as last time, comments will have my pros, cons, and mixed opinions. I'm Also adding a new category: No Fun Allowed. This is for more minor things I took serious issue with that stem from Celtic clearly not fully mixing with RWBY's vibe

I was having an okay time with the rewrite of this volume, not a lot of problems really and most changes were minor that I was neutral on. And then Mt Glenn happened. I was NOT happy with the Mt Glenn rewrite and it takes up most of my problems this volume. I'm also noticing a worrying pattern of Celtic removing or changing stuff to be "pragmatic, smart, or realistic" for lack of a better term, at the expense of canon characterization. Namely Jaune's blackmail in V1 and multiple things here in V2

My thoughts on Fixing RWBY Volume 1

After only hearing about things in FRWBY secondhand, I figure I should be fair and finally give it a shot. Celtic is treating it like a serious rewrite, I'll judge it as such. No kid gloves but I won't judge on production values, not a fair comparison

In the comments I'll post the pros, cons, and mixed opinions I had. I won't go over every change, that would take forever, but I'll go over major or notable differences. If you don't want to read em I'll give the TLDR: Pretty mixed on it, leaning negative. Didn't hate everything but it has some bizarre changes, and one I outright hate

Most Talented Characters

Who do you consider the most gifted fighters in the series? To me there are three main candidates: Ruby, Pyrrha, and Cinder

Ruby despite being two years younger than the rest of the main cast, which is pretty big for their age range, is keeping up with them and at times outperforms them

Pyrrha is, well, Pyrrha. She's basically a once in a generation talent and was Oz's candidate to take Amber's remaining fall maiden magic despite her relative lack of experience

Cinder at like age 15 killed Rhodes, a fully licensed huntsman so old he has gray streaks in his hair he clearly isn't a joke like Dee or Dudley. Granted he wasn't going for the kill but the fact she broke his aura and got him in a position where she *could* kill him is still insane for her age. Of these three I'd actually say Cinder's the most talented, but understand if you disagree. I just highly doubt Ruby or Pyrrha at her age could have fought Rhodes and done as well as she did

Honorable mention goes to Penny but she's a bit weird on this since she's a robot literally built for combat. Not exactly a one-to-one comparison

Did a recent rewatch of the series which reignited my creative spark

Before anyone else says, yes I know I butchered the Schnee emblem. It's the first time I've ever drawn it

Also, never really paid attention to how RWBY gives the characters different eyelashes until looking back for reference
