Was watching this lecture on IoT devices and what data it has been found that they're communicating. Was surprised to see Firewalla appear in a section at around 34mins in that was looking at different security solutions to the issue:

SPOILER ALLERT: It's not entirely a glowing recommendation (especially the bit on data retention - which seems to misrepresent the reality of Firewalla's actual policy), but was nice to see Firewalla in the solutions evaluated.

The whole thing is worth a watch. Particularly interested by the section on smart TVs and how they can see what you're watching.
