Pace guidance
Looking to the learned members of this forum for some pace guidance. For context, I’m a 55 year old male that got back into running 3 years ago to lose weight and get ready for my blackbelt test. I have been consistent over the last 3 years, even while I battled stage 3 cancer last year.
During that time I ran several 5&10ks and a couple of half marathons. I ran them with friends largely as a social function so time was not a focus. I did run a 1:58 half in March of this year.
This morning I ran a 5k in 23:27 and truth be told I probably could have been a minute faster if I stayed focused during the race.
I am about to enter a training block for my first marathon. Like everyone else, first goal is to obviously finish. But I’d really like to push myself and see what I can do. I currently run 5 times a week totaling about 64k.
Any guidance on what a reasonable time goal should be based on the info provided? Thanks in advance.
