120 day Late Payment due to my own stupidity.....
I am looking for some advice on a situation I placed myself in.. About a year (July 2025) back, I purchased a mattress with a 12-month, 0% interest credit card that the furniture store offered. For some reason I thought that the salesman told me no payments were due during this period and I would not be charged interest as long as the balance was paid off before the end of the 12-month period. Unfortunately, this was not the case. I checked my credit one day and realized I had 6 months of late payments all the way up to 120+ late payments, and my credit was destroyed. I paid the entire balance as soon as I saw what happened (January 2026).
I have very little credit card debt (<$500 ) and about 45k in available credit. This is really my only negative on my credit score besides a 30 date late payment a few years back. I wrote a letter to TD bank (the CC company this happened with) and they responded with the "typical there's nothing they can do". My credit score now sits at a 650-675 with 14 years of credit history, 8 yr average age of account, less than 3% credit usage, and good payment history, besides the late payments I am explaining here.
Any advice on how to rebuild my credit would be greatly appreciated.
