Hey guys,

I’m mainly a Horus Heresy collector/lore fan but I want to start 40K tabletop to get a friend into the hobby with me (he want Ork)

Thinking about Ultramarines because I like the aesthetic and characters in the GW range, but I don’t really know their playstyle or how they feel on the tabletop

What kind of playstyle do Ultramarines lean into ? What’s fun to build/play around for casual games ?

Also curious about good units to start

I know they’re focused around the Primarchs/Legions, but what’s the actual format/content like ? Are they mostly short stories, campaign-style narratives, character deep dives, Legion lore, other ?

And are they worth picking up for someone building a Horus Heresy collection, or more “nice extra” type books ?
