Crackpot Thought: Starting from November 2025, we lost 13 Heroes so far.
Now please hear me out.
- I believe everyone understands the loss of TT+ units is detrimental to representation, at the very least. It's a sentiment that's been shared every time a Seasonal banner happens & will likely continue to do so if nothing changes.
- I believe everyone also understands the loss of a GHB whenever we get the Paired CYL Banners w/ an OC. In fact, we're almost definitely getting another one in June due to the New Heroes banner having no new GHB or Forging Bonds accompanying it. Instead, we get Seer's Snare alongside the banner & Excellus is rerunning a day after the banner goes live.

- Harmonized CYL Alm: Infantry Sword
- Harmonized CYL Micaiah: Flying Green Tome
- Chosen Laegjarn: ??? Axe

The loss of Grail options hurts the playerbase a lot, that much is true.
However, I'd argue that the loss of banner units we've had so far is also hurting the playerbase:
- Ever since 2019, every banner has had 4 Heroes available on it at the very least, while...
- ...ever since Book 4 started, every banner that features an OC also has either an instant demote in the gacha pool or a reward unit that eventually gets added as a demote in the gacha pool.
However, when we started getting Paired CYL, this started to change:
- Paired CYL banners not only lost a 4th gacha Hero, but they also lost a 5th option that would have been the insta-demote because both banners had an OC.
- Book 10 Begins lost a 5th Fodlan character in some capacity; whether you wish to believe either of the following theories is up to you, but I do feel like the sentiment that a Fodlan character was lost is shared among many people (I know it was at the time when they revealed that Lorenz would be the reward unit & the insta-demote).
- Raphael was meant to be the insta-demote while the GHB was meant to be someone like Thales, Acheron, Judith, Nader, etc.
- Leonie was meant to be the insta-demote.
With both Grail & Gacha characters considered, my claim is that we've lost 13 Heroes so far & it'll only get worse in June, where:
- We'll lose 3 units on the New Heroes banner (the GHB, the 4th Focus Unit, and the Reward unit for the Midpoint Celebration).
- We'll lose another TT+ unit on the 1st Summer banner
...now, personally, I'll claim that we actually lost 15 Heroes so far, but that's only because I don't think Duos should be on New Heroes banners...but that's just me.
