Trade Jrue Holiday now?

If we're gonna keep Scoot as future insurance or maybe as a down-the-line trade chip (if we think our core + Dame and Ja can make a run over the next couple years), we need to open up playing time for him on a crowded backcourt. His value isn't as high as it could be given that he was recently injured, and it won't get any higher unless he plays. And he needs minutes to make mistakes, preferably behind Ja, Dame, and Shae.

Separately, we have the MLE to sign a good wing, but if say Rui goes with Minnesota or the Nets or back to the Lakers, is there anyone worthwhile who'd take it?

Everyone pretty much thinks Shae is our best trade chip, but he's a better win now player than Scoot for this roster imo, he's historically sturdy-ish and his contract is reasonable enough that we don't need to rush a trade.

But Jrue is 36, coming off of a good season, and isn't getting younger. I think we should trade him now to a contender to get back a 3&D wing as insurance in case no one worthwhile takes the MLE. Thoughts?

Why are everyone’s trade ideas including Shae instead of Scoot?

Shae seems to be a more obvious contributor to the current team than Scoot. Is it just because he seems more valuable as a trade piece?

EDIT: I can see where people's support of keeping Scoot comes from, but smells like a bit of recency bias after Shae was benched in playoffs. Compare with this thread of what people thought Scoot was worth in January while injured:

>Scoot will not be extended unless it's a sweetheart deal for Portland. He has not shown enough to get extended. Has not been healthy enough to get extended. > >Right now he looks more like a bust than a building block. > >He will get the opportunity to play for his extension next year.

Did he show enough in 30-ish games? I still don't think he's gonna play much this year - it's dependent on other players' injuries which is plausible but not what i'd bet on happening this year with complete certainty.
