Custom RTGs moving sections of NYC’s Park Avenue Viaduct

Pretty cool look at how the Park Avenue Viaduct is being replaced while keeping trains moving through one of the busiest rail corridors in the country.

The B1M did a great breakdown of the project and the custom Mi-Jack Travelift gantries built to remove, transport and replace sections of the viaduct.

Always interesting seeing equipment designed around a problem where a conventional crane setup isn’t really an option.

155 ft, 220,000 lb Capacity Spreader Bar Headed 1,000 Miles to Georgia

Caught this getting ready to roll out from Hazel Crest, IL. The logistics of transporting components like this are almost as impressive as seeing them in use.

Engineering that never gets old to watch

Circle steering on this RTG allows it to spin within its own footprint instead of driving around to change orientation. So satisfying to watch

Took two of these working together to move this coil.

Pretty cool to watch how smooth they can get it when everything’s synced up.
