What are the odds that I can save this palm and replant it somewhere else in my yard?
Location: Central California, Zone 9b (I think?)
I have this Mexican Fan Palm that decided it wanted to grow right on the edge of my driveway in this barren strip of dirt/weeds. Up until now, I've just been hacking off the lower fronds to keep it from blocking too much of the sidewalk and my already narrow driveway, but I'm about to buy a new, larger car that I don't want to scratch up, so the palm has to go.
It popped up all on its own around the same time my wife and I bought the house in late 2020. At first it was basically just a weed growing out of a neglected corner of my yard without any additional water other than what nature provides it, but now I'm grown somewhat attached to it. I'd like to relocate it more centrally in my front yard where it can be as big as it wants to be without endangering my new car's paint. What would be the best way to extract it from here without damaging it too much?
