Hi everyone. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post or seems rambly - I’m just looking for some advice and to know what others’ have experienced for next steps after a cancer confirmation diagnosis.
I had a hemithyroidectomy in mid April and I felt surprisingly fine so I was thinking positively that nothing else would be required. Unfortunately, they did find cancer and I was told it was PT3A papillary cancer in my follow-up appointment. I’m booked in for a total thyroidectomy next Tuesday.
I‘ve also been told I need a CT scan and radioiodine treatment but neither of these have been booked in. I think I’m just on edge from everything that’s been going on but the idea that the cancer might have spread is making me really anxious so I was wondering if anyone else had a requested CT scan and radioiodine treatment and how long post-surgery did these happen?
I’m also just looking for some general advice on what to expect post my completion thyroidectomy. I have had fatigue in the past couple of weeks but I’m quite a tired person ordinarily so I don’t know if that means it may be similar in recovery? Thank you in advance for any advice or help.
