Gary Coleman in Avenue Q…

I saw Avenue Q for the first time last night. It was great! The cast were spot on and I loved the set!

My only gripe is with the portrayal of Gary Coleman… I thought his character a bit mean-spirited given how Coleman’s life sadly turned out. Upon further reading, it seems that he didn’t like the show and wished to sue, making the situation all the worse…

Personally, I think you could easily change the character to someone else (I.e. someone who consents!) and have just as good a show! Am I right?

Any tips for two shows (matinee and evening) in one day?

I’ve got really into West End theatre recently. I now want to see every show there is! I have a free day next week, so I was considering going into the city for both the matinee and the evening performance slots… Has anyone done this for two different shows? Was it hugely overwhelming? Did you get enough time inbetween?

How do we think they’ll sell tickets for “Sunday in the Park with George” with Ariana Grande? Will they do a Taylor Swift and lottery it or make it a free for all?

Also, there are rumours that the run will be two months. If so, I presume Ariana will have an understudy? Will those dates be clearly stated when tickets go on sale?

How will they manage the stage door?!?

For me, it’s SIX…

I’ve seen a lot of West End shows recently, and whilst most of them have exceeded expectations (Into the Woods, Paddington…), SIX just didn’t work for me.

Firstly, I disagreed with the feminist angle given that it was six highly talented and privileged women in their underwear… That strip scene with Anne of Cleves particularly riled me up!

Secondly, the lack of staging, special effects, and props took away some of the West End magic for me. With West End, I think go big or go home!

To be clear, I enjoyed the show for what it was. I just didn’t think it deserved the hype and wouldn’t see it again.

I’ve only ever seen patrons not return after the interval, but I’ve never seen anyone leave during the show. However, on here, people seem to mention it sometimes?

To me, I don’t think I could ever leave no matter how bad or offensive the show! Plus, given the costs of theatre, you must lose a lot of money in tickets/ trains etc.

If you’ve done it, why?
