I need help with an Ipod Nano 1st gen. It won't connect to my pc.

Hey there,

Just recently i got an Ipod nano 1st gen which i found on a Thrift store.

Only issue was: I was missing a charger for it. So recently, i found a cheap one online which i decided to buy.

It's a 3 cable one with the end being a usb connector, i already plugged my old iphone with it into my pc and it immeadetly connected.

Only with my Ipod does it give me trouble. It does charge it, but it won't show up.

I attached a photo of the cable. Is it perhaps it's fault? Even though it does let my phone connect without any issues?

I also tried rebooting both my PC and the Ipod to no avail...Is there something else i can do?

I only have this one cable right now and no other devices to test it with.

I do have an Ipod shuffle 3rd gen which i connected several times to my pc and never had an issue with.

Hope somebody here can help me out, any help is appreciated!

Hey there!

Recently i've been interested in getting an Ipod and a while ago, i ended up getting one. It was the 3rd gen Shuffle and although it has held up well, i ended up having too many issues with not having a screen and choosing the music i want to play.

So, i ended up venturing out again and after doing some research decided to first target Mini and Classic ipods on both Vinted and Ebay.

Unfortunatly, i did not end up finding a single one that wasn't too pricey for me but after looking some more i saw many people selling 1st Gen ipod Nanos with the 4gb model in good condition for a cheap price.

Appearently they're the easiest to repair and have less battery bloating issues?

I really like the design of the device too, so i was wondering...Is it worth getting one?

Im 100% commited into replacing the battery and disasembling the device if needed. I also have some other old tech and have done this process before on them.
