advice on test kits

i cant find any test kits in my region, online theyre costly and will take over 2 months to arrive. ive been doing a fishless cycle for my axi for about four days with seeded media. i have no idea how its going because i genuinely couldnt find any test kits not even local shops.. its all sold out. strips are inaccurate and that doesnt include ammonia test kits which are also sold out

what do i do now? please help!

help

TLDR: is apt pure conditioner safe

ive recently got gifted a 5 year old axi and from what i know his living conditions were terrible, constant bright lights, no filters in the tank, water over 22 C (i live in the gulf so normal tap water is 32 C on a good day) i ofc knew none of this until super later

after getting him situated i knew nothing about this animal so i asked the owner and they said to feed them regularly and change the water when it looks cloudy. ive never raised fish so i didnt know about cycles or filters so i kept him with nothing except siphoning out food and debris occasionally. a couple days ago i was changing his water and i couldnt cool it down fast enough, he genuinely started freaking out so i installed a fan on top to cool down the water and after being frantic for a while he settled at the bottom and ate a little then the next day the water was swamp green and i got super worried so i ignored the dude's advice and found this subreddit

anyway, 2 days ago i bought him a filter (dophin h800 im getting a sponge to cover the bottom part so it doesnt harm him) and apt pure water conditioner (i couldnt find seachem prime) when i bought apt pure i had no idea aleo vera can harm his gills and im super worried about him rn but he looks wayy healthier than a couple days ago when the water was green, he still didnt eat but im keeping my eye on him and i only turn on my dim lights to check up on him every now and then. i did a 50% water change and added 5 pumps of conditioner.

my question is; is he gonna be okay? or is it an emergency situation because his water finally looks stable and i really dont want to keep stressing him out

im gonna buy those test kits tmw to check his water quality and will share it as soon as i do it, i dont want him to die hes already been trough so much :(
