This show broke my child

My daughter(7) has been hitting that age where she likes more canonical shows like this and Owl House. Neither her nor I were prepared for the emotional weight of some of these episodes, though.

I could tell things were ramping up and the presence of voice talent I was already familiar with coupled with sharp writing clued me into the fact that this show was something special.

But watching through the final 6 or so episodes with her was intense. I've never seen her so controlled by a piece of media. She just had to know what happened next and couldn't stop thinking about it when we weren't watching.

And her very capable but emotionally unprepared mind was brought to ruin by the bittersweet ending. She just had never experienced those emotions and it was a tough day. She learned the term "mental health day" over this show. And I found myself thankful that I watched with her.

Once in a while I'm surprised by a show for her that's just brilliant. She's at the age where she no longer wants to be patronized, and this was quite the step up.
