I have had PCOS for 18 years now (🥲). I was on birth control for most of this time as that was the only “solution” I was given by the GP (I am based in the UK). I couldn’t take being on the contraceptive pill anymore, came off it and lost my period for over a year. I’m now somewhat getting a period every 5 weeks or so. My main symptoms are insulin resistance and hirsutism. I wanted to give inositol a go as it seems to be a wonder supplement which so many people rave about.

For the people in the UK, the brand I tried was from Holland and Barrett, their inositol powder complex.

I noticed a reduction in cravings and sugar pretty much instantly. However when it was time for my period it never arrived. This felt peculiar, I always get one every 5 weeks. Whilst taking the powder it felt like my body was desperately trying to get a period but it simply wouldn’t arrive. Sounds silly but I felt blocked, my PMS symptoms were also very extreme. I decided to stop the inositol and within 3 days I got the heaviest period I have ever had 😭

I am just wondering whether the brand of inositol and if it’s combined with other vitamins etc affects what it does to you? In my case the inositol complex has multiple things and I don’t know what the ratio of inositol is. Has anyone tried different brands/ratios before they found what works for them?
