1 week out from big tech internship any advice
title is self explanatory. it's my first ever internship (fullstack swe) and i've been trying to prepare and demystify what to expect, ever since i got the offer back in october. ik what tech stack we'll be using and i've been using the time since to brush up on the fundamentals (hand crafted, no ai code generation). some questions that i've looked into but want more insight on
- what are the conventions of committing code (i've heard making small and frequent commits)
- how to write good commit messages
- how do i know when to ask for help and whether i've exhausted all other options
- how to track metrics (i see sometimes on people's linkedins they showcase their quantifiable impact at the internship)
- strategies for getting comfortable w the codebase
i definitely have more questions that i'm blanking on but this is what came to mind. any advice is appreciated. feel free to address any other questions i didn't mention that you feel is helpful. i'd love to hear about your past intern experience and hopefully success stories because i want to get a RO.
