Higher BP on higher estradiol patch?
Backstory: I’m 48 years old and had a hysterectomy (kept my ovaries) at age 29. I’ve been using estradiol patches for almost a year now, and it has been miraculous for most of the perimenopausal symptoms I was experiencing for years prior to HRT. I started at .025 mg and have gone up to .075 mg, however, my doctors (both primary and gyno) have had me reduce the dosage to .05 mg due to higher blood pressure and more PVCs/PACs at the .075 and .06 mg dosages. I did have a bit more anxiety on the higher doses, but it might be attributed to the increased heart palpitations that were very noticeable. Now that I’m back to .05 mg, I’m experiencing 1-2 night sweats each night and my joint pain is back. I’ve been back at this dose for a month now. I used to take blood pressure medication several years ago, but stopped when I lost 50 pounds and my BP was dropping too low on those meds. I have a cardiologist and of course, EKGs, ECGs and all labs (thyroid, magnesium levels, B12, vitamin D, etc) are all normal. Has anyone started blood pressure medication to allow them to go up in estradiol patches strength? I should note that I do also use testosterone cream for libido and have done that for about 4 months now. Thanks!
