Question about air quality

I asked about best areas in LA for retired couple moving from NYC. I got great recommendations Considering Melrose/Beverly Grove, Beverly Hills, Larchmont/Hancock Park, Fairfax. Basically want to be close to Cedars. Santa Monica or Marina Del Ray also possibility. I never spent any significant time in LA and fires and air quality is huge concern. I see fires are everywhere. Probably stupid question but what it is like to be in areas i listed as far as air quality? Do people stay inside? What about last year fires? Will i be better off in SM or Beverly Grove?
