Looking for a Senior Dev or Trusted Advisor - App Rebuild
We're a UK-based SaaS platform with a live, revenue-generating product and established customer base. We've been around for 10 years, recently brought on new investment, and we're at a point where the architecture decisions of the past are starting to limit what we can do next.
Our current dev team is two experienced contractors - solid people, but their skill set is anchored in PHP and some JS, which is the stack we're built on. That's part of the challenge. We need someone outside of that context who can give us an objective view on where we go from here.
Before we commit to any direction, we want to talk to someone who's been there. Not a consultant who'll tell us what we want to hear, and not a dev house pitching for the work. Just someone sharp, experienced, and genuinely across modern AI-assisted development who can help us stress-test our thinking.
This isn't a job ad, but I'm initially looking to speak with people who have:
Rebuilt an existing product from the ground up and the new version is genuinely better than what came before. You know the traps, the trade-offs, and when a rebuild is actually worth it vs. when refactoring is the smarter call.
You're comfortable working with AI coding tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude, or similar) as a core part of your workflow - not as a gimmick, but in a way that genuinely changes how fast and well you can build.
You can hold your own in a conversation with a non-technical leadership team, give an honest view even when it's not what people want to hear, and you have no skin in the game beyond giving good advice.
