Engineering and personal ethics

Hi everybody,

I’ve been in mechanical engineering for about 10 years now working for some fairly large defense/energy/aerospace companies. Held roles in Design/Manufacturing/ Supply Chain. When I first got into engineering it was because I liked solving problems, building things, and improving mankind in some form. Since I’ve got into the field I’ve struggled with helping bringing products into the market place that ultimately harm mankind and or drive harm to the planet environmentally. Has anybody struggled with this internal conflict? And if so how were you able to manage it.

I should mention I got out of defense early in my career and moved into the energy sector. Now it seems it’s all headed to AI data centers which are probably the worst thing for the planet.
