So, FOR THE 9TH EDITION OF 'QUOTE OF THE WEEK',

THE WINNING QUOTE IS:

IT'S A TIE FOLKS. ONCE AGAIN

The quotes on tie are:

"All I had was myself. I had nobody else. So this is awkward for me. Having someone else that is not myself. You looked at me, listened to me, smiled at me, ate with me, kept the promise with me even if we didn’t make any contract, and protected me. You did all those things. All along, I had you by my side." - Yoon Se-ri from 'Crash Landing on You' (2019)

Nominated by: u/Rebeu_DU_59

&

"Sometimes the wrong train takes you to the right direction. It was like that for me, too. Throughout my life, I always felt like I was on the wrong train. One time, I wanted to give up. I didn't want to go anywhere. So I thought of jumping off the train. Look where I am now. I took the wrong train again, and a very wrong one at that. Still, you should think about the future, even if things don't go as you wish. I hope you arrive at the right station, no matter which train you take" - Yoon Se-ri from 'Crash Landing on You' (2019)

KDrama Review: Good Manager (2017) - A hilarious, full-on laughter take on Office-comedy that makes you want for more

https://preview.redd.it/k15xby88tm1h1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=afd6021984ef46148e24b33b3b40b1426e14e03c

LOOK WHO'S BACK!!!! YES, you heard that right.

Annyeonghaseyo Everyone. Your fav K-Drama reviewer is back to do what you all love - reviews. Hope you all would be doing well in your respective lives. It's been exactly a month and 10 days since I last posted a review and to be honest, I was so so busy with works and health issues in the way that this might be the first time in my reddit career that my activity was low. But that's how life works, isn't it. I'm not stretching it further and coming to the point - today, I'm going to do the review of 'Good Manager' (2017). The next lineup for reviews is going to be an interesting one, which includes 'Vincenzo', 'Tomorrow', 'The Glory', 'My Name'. Hope you like today's review as well as the future contents this community will offer going forward. So, without wasting much time, let's get started:

Comedy is like a gift from the God. Whenever we feel demoted or out of sorts (like mood off), comedy is the only thing which makes you feel alive and refreshed (love also does, but it's debatable). There is no drama in this world that has comedy in it, but there are also very few dramas that has both comedy and suspense mixed up, like two different ingredients come together to create a perfect recipe. Out of these very dramas, Comedic K-Dramas are well-known. But there's one K-drama which was such an out & out comedic and hilarious that makes a viewer wanting for more. The drama I'm talking about is 'Good Manager' (2017) and believe me, it was beautifully hilarious.

Released in 2017, 'Good Manager' is a highly regarded, a decorated take on office-comedy that one needs to watch. There's no way I can leave this out, whether you're a fan of Nam-Koong Min or not. The story is full of comedy as well as suspense. The makers, to be honest, played the theme of suspense with comedy perfectly. Even if the suspense gets neglected at the fag end, they made sure that the comedic nature is not compromised. I must appreciate them because sometimes, when the story gets dramatic, the purpose of comedy becomes a lost case. It's an honest remark because I belong from a country where comedy was a dominating king right from the 90s to 2000s. Combined with the energetic performances, the plot delivers a fine slapstick comedy. The only issue I found was this: the screenplay. I know it's a little bit debatable and most of you won't agree, but there were parts (mainly in the second half) where the screenplay could have been done a little better. Anyway, that's something can be ignored if a fine comedy like this is served. All in all, the makers have done a really great job.

Moving to cast performance, Nam Koong-Min is the spotlight of this drama. Not a single scene you'll find where his acting was bad or not upto the mark. Such was his performance - full of chaos and honesty. The characterisation of Kim Seong-Ryong (interesting name) was good, but on top of that, Nam Koong Min elevated the character's antics to next level. To be fair, this is one of the finest performances in a comedy drama, not just because of his chaotic nature or his comedic style, but also how smartly he performed his role. BRAVO. Lee Jun-Ho, early in his career, played his role of Seo Yool perfectly. The mystic, anti-hero nature of Seo Yool brought the best out of Lee Jun-ho. Plus, his love-hate bromance with Nam Koong-Min was so good that it could give the ultimate Goblin x Grim Reaper (AKA Gong Yoo x Lee Dong Wook) bromance a run for their money. Seriously speaking, Lee Jun-Ho was damn good in his role. The FLs of this drama, Nam Sang-Mi and Jung Hye-song, were good in their respective roles. Quite a lot quirky, but not so over-the-top, which makes us love to watch. Plus, their chemistry with Nam Koong-Min were perfect. The supporting cast were also damn good in their respective roles, the standout among them is our favourite Ahjussi Kim Won-Hae. Without their presence, the comedic vibe wouldn't have been same. Also, lookout for Kim Seon-Ho in his debut role. To be honest, I couldn't recognise him until episode 7. Fairly speaking, it's a complete performance from the cast.

The OST, especially the opening track, was very good and moody. Apart from that, however, there is nothing much to write about it, as far as I'm concerned. The cinematography was very much leaned into traditional sitcom vibes, which is still a good thing.

Overall, it's a 9/10 for me. If you're fan of sitcoms, office comedy or fan of Nam Koong-Min, this is a sure shot watch, no doubt about it.

Do let me know your views about this drama in the comment section below.

Also, do check out the latest Spotlight featurette of this week to be released today.
