Worst management at Pune walk in drive - 4th July

Despite continuous heavy rain, many of us assumed the turnout would be low. Surprisingly, there were close to 1,000 candidates at the venue.
Unfortunately, the event was extremely poorly managed.

There was no proper registration process or organized queue management.
Very few coordinators were available, and it was difficult to get any information.
Candidates who brought their personal laptops or chargers were reportedly asked by security to leave those items outside if they hadn’t come by their own vehicle, leaving many with no safe place to keep their belongings.
Several candidates waited for hours without knowing when or whether they would be interviewed.

The most disappointing part was what happened to many candidates, especially .NET developers. After waiting almost the entire day, they were told that their interviews would instead be conducted virtually at a later date and were asked to leave.
Even after 5 PM, nearly half of the remaining candidates were still waiting. Eventually, many of them were also told to go home with the same message: “We’ll schedule your interview virtually later.”

If the plan was to conduct virtual interviews anyway, why organize a walk-in drive? Many candidates traveled long distances, stood in heavy rain, and spent an entire day waiting, only to be told to return home.

I understand that large-scale hiring events can be challenging to manage, but better planning, communication, and crowd management would have made a huge difference.
Did anyone else attend yesterday? What was your experience?
