Quantum Moon — a fan-made Outer Wilds desktop I built while learning Arch Linux (CachyOS) and Hyprland. This is my first rice and basically my first time daily-driving Arch, so feedback is welcome.

Spoiler note: Outer Wilds is a fantastic game, and the first playthrough is something you only get once—discovery is the point. Play it before installing this theme if you have not finished it and want to stay unspoiled.

What it is

- Hyprland compositor on Wayland

- Caelestia shell (Quickshell) as the UI layer — bar, dashboard, lock screen, notifications

- Quantum Moon on top: six planetary “modes,” each with its own palette, per-monitor wallpapers, and center-monitor video (game footage via mpvpaper)

What it does

- Pick a planet from the Quantum Moon ring on the shell to travel to one of the five planets (or hit the moon button for a random world)

- Scout lock: mark a planet so the theme stays put; leave it unlocked and the desktop can still hop worlds when you’re idle / not looking (idle/random walk behavior)

- `qm-apply` runs on every planet swap and syncs Hyprpaper, the Caelestia color scheme, GTK4/Nautilus, kitty, and Qt colors to match the active planet
