Tron or FARM?
Hey, I'm in grade 12 right now and I'm making my university decisions. I got offers for both Mechatronics Engineering and FARM at Waterloo. The deadline is June 1st and I'm genuinely stuck. I'm looking for some advice from upper years with more experience.
My background is mostly in robotics and programming — I've been a team captain, done a lot of C++ and autonomous systems stuff. No finance background at all.
Tron feels more natural given my background but I'm worried I'll end up like a lot of engineers who hate their job and never use what they learned. FARM feels like a smarter career move financially and seems to offer better work life balance and WFH flexibility long term.
Basically — did anyone go into FARM without loving finance and end up fine? And for Tron people, is the lifestyle as rigid and onsite heavy as it seems?
Which would you pick and why?
