I’ve had a Capital One secured card (my only credit card) for about a year now and have always, always paid my balance on time. I was using a Chime checking account to pay my balances and that account was compromised (Chime has ZERO reliable fraud protection, fyi!!!) causing my payment to be returned. I got a notice from Capital One shortly after that my account was closed. A few days later, I completely paid off the card to $0 but am in the process of moving & renting an apartment where my credit history will be examined. After successfully filing for Ch7 in Feb 2025, I’m nervous this will impact my chances of securing a place!
