So we recently went the psychologist route, and my son has been diagnosed with anxiety and ADHD. I found that, when I was diagnosed last year, the anxiety symptoms nearly vanished with the Vyvanse. Hoping it's the same for him.
We're now on a waiting list for him to see a paediatrician for management / medication. Seems the wait time is 3+ years according to their website, 2 years according to the auto-response I got back. I guess the best way forward is to register with a bunch of places, and see if we get anywhere sooner. Any other options? I know the GP rollout in WA is happening, however I cannot find much about timeframes for that, either.
I was lucky, I think. I went from waiting to a psychiatrist appointment and diagnosed in under 3 months. Sucks that the wait time for kids is so much longer, they're the ones who should be prioritised.
