Shower Update

I am considering replacing/updating a Jacuzzi/shower area.
Total space is 60” x 90”

I am keeping cabinets and flooring. I have spare tile.
Is this enough space for a combined shower/ soaker tub?
The other alternative is a nice shower area.

The jacuzzi still works after 36 years.

I think that I have a reliable contractor for basic kitchen
update (replace cabinets, counter tops, take out soffits(no HVAC, electrical issues).
That bid was from the first contractor that I talked to. They have a store front yet build houses.

Contractor Advice

I live inn Austin, Texas.

I have a cabinet brand , called Crown Point that I really like. I have the cabinets in my bathrooms.

Maybe I am getting wrapped up too much in brands.

For a small kitchen in Austin, TX I would like to

  1. Replace cabinets

  2. replace countertops

3 take out soffits

  1. Put in a 240v electrical line for a range.

I am not changing the foot print.

The various designers insist on using their cabinet suppliers.

I had design -build firm do a site visit and they said they could use “crown point”

I was expecting a bid. The contractor scheduled a meeting and went over a bid without giving me a copy beforehand and changed out the cabinets without me even seeing the cabinets or the cabinet makes work.

The bid/estimate was about 120K without appliances or “design costs” but 47K for their cabinets.

The bid seems extremely expensive. I sort of feel that I experienced a bait and switch in that I was led to believe that they would use “crown point” and then they found out the delivery time and they unilaterally changed the scope of the project.

Am I expecting too much as a home owner to be able to at least use a cabinet brand that I know?
