12 day comparison - aggressive metastasis of melanoma.

Unfortunately these are from my own dog. No advice needed, she's at peace now and I understand fully what happened. Just wanted to share for educational purposes and discussion.

These hip xrays are only 12 days apart. Angle slightly different, but generally same shot. First taken when trying to diagnose the cause of stiffness and pain as part of a multi-study workup. Ultimately biopsy of a cervical lymph node a couple of days after this yielded melanated cells and we were advised to schedule with an oncologist, which we did for a week and a half out. Unfortunately she rapidly spiraled, I won't go into the ugly details, but between this, lung mets, and how fast things were progressing, we let her go, she didn't make it to the consult. I think it even rattled the emergency vet attached to the oncologist we scheduled with.

The shocking thing to me is just how fast this happened, and how easy it is to point out to a layman. Soft tissue and blood vessels are more my thing, but even I can see and say "yeah, that's not supposed to be there" on the left ilium.
