Just curious, and I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but do we actually need periods? There are a lot of menstrual suppressants that you can still can pregnant while on (at least from what I know as someone who takes menstrual suppressants), so is it actually important to have a period? Does it help with reproductive health or make pregnancies easier?

I know that in my case where pregnancy isn't something I'm doing, it doesn't matter, so my doctor didn't really talk about it. This question is more out of curiosity if someone knows rather than concern or need.
