Ozempic + extended fasting

I am 2.5 weeks (2 shots) into the lowest dose of ozempic/smeg shots. Day 1 I had sulfur burb that was so disgusting (think farting from your mouth) I thought about quitting but kept at it. Days 4-7 I had no more food noise and actually didn’t want to eat at all so delayed taking my 2nd shot until day 10. That was likely too long bc now food noise is back but not the way it was pre-oz.

Fasting I have done a 9 day water, 7 day water, and probably eight 5-6 day water fasts over the last 5 years. Many 24, 48, and 72 hour fasts as well sprinkled in. I have lost 32 lbs but then also regained it over that window (max weight 168 lbs lowest weight 135.5). I started the oz at 164 lbs 2.5 weeks ago.

I decided as a faster the oz might be a way to make it easier to fast. Not what I expected at all. Symptoms and body changes are nothing like fasting.

Pros of oz: 1) Inflammation way down 2) bloating way down 3) poop is very healthy looking and very regular (every day) which wasn’t the case for me before - used to have a chaotic poop schedule and consistency 4) at least a few days of no hunger and certainly do get full faster to help me stop eating

Cons of oz: 1) I feel weaker like muscle is def getting eaten not just fat 2) Did not kill my cravings like I thought it would 3) Only lost 2 lbs in 16 days which is disappointing 4) I feel like my face looks older ozempic face 5) constantly dehydrated and peeing all the time even though I’ve maintained same water intake (I’ve always drank a lot of water and still am but oz feels like I’m being squeezed dry) 6) when the hunger totally died those few days depression really kicked in. Never got depressed while long fasting.

That brings us to today. I decided I should do an extended fast (targeting at least 48 hours but will see how long after that) on top of the oz to 1) counteract cancer risks of oz and 2) actually start to lose some weight as I’m hoping it should be easier to fast with the oz and 3) hope the fasting euphoria counteracts and sad feelings from the ozempic

24 hours into the fast feels the same as when I fasted without the oz. I thought about food a lot. Same stomach squirms as normal fast. Felt very light headed at the 18 hour mark like I normally do.

I’m disappointed the fasting doesn’t feel easier but will update again after the 48 hour mark to let you know how this progresses.
