What is the actual southern end of the Lakefront trail?
Google maps shows the trailhead at 71st street, just south of the South Shore Cultural center. How are you supposed to get from this trailhead to the trail at 67th street?
Are you supposed to start at the south shore nature center boardwalk and walk across the cultural center beach? (Then what? Is the beach to the east of the golf course navigable on foot or do you walk along south shore drive?)
Or are you supposed to start on 71st st and walk on the sidewalk of South Shore Drive until you get to the trail at 67th st? (If this is the case, why don't we just consider 67th st the trailhead?)
Based on my first experience with the segment of the trail I found it really confusing to follow IRL until we got to 63rd st beach and for some reason Google maps gives really wonky advice on how to get between these destinations.
If you ask Google maps for walking directions to promotory, it tells you to walk around Jackson park entirely and doesn't seem to understand where the lakefront trail is. I remember staying right after 67th st and then getting confused around the childrens hospital. Is this area part of the lakefront trail? How are you supposed to traverse this?
