I was expelled from a club I'd belonged to for years. The chairman spread false, malicious claims about me within the closed committee, and my expulsion was decided by a vote based on those claims. I was never given a chance to respond properly.
Before the vote, these claims were drilled into committee members — particularly newly appointed ones — over lengthy discussions during official committee meetings. At no point was anything double-checked with me.
Later, during the appeal, I finally saw the document the chairman had written. It contains a significant number of clear lies — ones I can disprove with documentary evidence. This document was authored by the chairman and shared only with committee members, an appeal manager he personally selected, and me.
My expulsion was decided on the basis of a document full of demonstrable falsehoods, and there seems to be almost nothing I can do about it. It's incredibly frustrating. Any advice on what steps I can take?
