I’ve been wanting to understand something for a while,so figured this might be a better place to ask than the usual social media chaos.

I’ve noticed a fair bit of anti-India sentiment from some Nepali users online, and instead of jumping to conclusions,I’m genuinely curious about where it’s coming from.Growing up in southern India,I always thought India–Nepal relations were pretty unique, open borders, cultural overlap, and the fact that Nepal is our only Hindu-majority neighbour. So I kind of assumed there was a natural alignment in how we see things, even on bigger issues.

But recently, that assumption doesn’t seem to hold up as much.

From what little I’ve gathered, people often mention the 2015 blockade and border disputes. I don’t fully understand the blockade situation though, so if someone can explain it from your perspective, that’d be really helpful. Also wondering if there are other factors ,political, economic, or even cultural that don’t get talked about as much.

Instagram comment sections are basically useless for this kind of discussion (it just turns into insults within minutes), so I thought I’d ask here instead.

I’m not here to argue or defend anything blindly happy to hear criticism as long as it’s in good faith. And yeah, I’m aware some Indians online leave pretty embarrassing comments… they don’t represent most of us, so apologies for that.

Would appreciate any honest insights.
