Long-time lurker, first post. I built a dynamic wallpaper for GNOME based on an anime-style Icelandic landscape that evolves throughout the day.

How it works

• 8 variations covering the full day cycle:
  • deep night
  • blue hour
  • sunrise
  • cold morning
  • noon
  • afternoon
  • sunset
  • dusk
• Native GNOME dynamic wallpaper (XML)
• Smooth crossfades between each phase
• No daemon, no cron, no extensions

Setup

• OS: OpenSuse
• DE: GNOME
• Wallpaper: Generated (Iceland-inspired, anime style)
• Dynamic wallpaper: GNOME XML (~/.local/share/backgrounds/)

Notes

• The composition stays consistent across all 8 images so transitions feel natural
• Timings are aligned to a full 24h cycle
• Works out of the box on Wayland

Happy to share tweak timings if anyone wants different moods.
