My son (22) received a phone call a few days ago from "Special Agent Fyle" from NCIS, requesting my son to meet with her. When he questioned what it could possibly be about, She assured him he was not in any kind of trouble, just wanted to speak to him, but declined any further details regarding why. Even though my son lives in Virginia Beach, which is close to NAVSTA, he is not affiliated with the Navy, or any other military branch, and the only relative in the military is his sister (my daughter) who is in the Army stationed at Ft. Campbell. He is a good kid, who doesn't get in ANY kind of trouble, and his friends group is pretty solid as well (as far as I know). When my son told me they were meeting at a Starbucks next Friday, I suggested him not to go. Its been my experience with law enforcement that whether it be serving a warrant, questions regarding an "ongoing investigation", or an interrogation, they will either come to your home, or bring you into the station, not plan to meet at a Starbucks. (He did tell me that she asked him where would be a good place to meet that would be convenient for him, and Starbucks was his response), but regardless... it didnt sit well with me. He gave me the name he was given, and the phone number she called from, so I could do my own little investigation on the matter. I found nothing in the reverse phone number method other than it is a mobile phone registered with AT&T, with only a last name to work with, and knowing it was a woman, I got a report of a woman with the last name and it did confirm this person as a student intern with NCIS, but the phone number didnt align. (The one she used very likely could be a work account though). Searching the name on FB, I got one result with the profile pic of a german shepherd, she only had 6 friends, and only 2 posts (that were public anyways), no selfie at all. I, myself, avoid the police if at all possible, even if I know they have nothing on me, I wouldn't willingly meet up to talk about anyone or anything unless it was concerning a child's welfare. At this point, IF she is in fact a special agent, curiosity would be a motive to follow through, but again... it just isn't sitting right with me.
