US, Michigan, Detroit Metro Area, my couch. Pretty sure this is a carpet beetle larva or the molted carapace of one. It wasn’t moving so I’m thinking the latter. 99% sure based on all I’ve already read here but figured it wouldn’t hurt to check with the experts here. As mentioned in my other thread, I’ve since vacuumed that whole couch and also sprayed it with Orange guard.

I definitely have at least a few adult carpet beetles which means there are larva somewhere. While I’ve read all about how to reduce their population from the main guide here, one thing that isn’t answered is whether I should avoid contact with other people for risk of spreading the beetle larva to others. I know I should avoid having anyone over at my place until I’m reasonably confident I’ve got the problem reduced, but should I also avoid going out and seeing other people? I have a wedding in a month that I am standing up in. I’ve been seeing the adult beetles for about one month, usually 1-3 in any given week. Have not yet found larva (will be looking for them today), I’ve looked all through my closet and nothing was visibly munched on or infested, not even a real feather that has been in there a couple months (though I threw out the feather just to be safe). I’m in the Michigan metro Detroit area.
