How do you guys actually manage planning group trips without going crazy? (I ended up building a tool to handle it)
Every time my friends and I try to plan a trip, it devolves into a messy Whatsapp group chat and a Google Doc that no one actually reads. Half the time, people can't agree on a budget, or we spend three weeks trying to find a weekend everyone is free, and people get frustrated.
I actually got so annoyed by the process last year that I built a small iOS app for us (Travellsy) just to handle the administrative headache. I made it so everyone can vote on dates, secretly put in their budget so the app can find an average, and split costs so I don't have to chase people for payments.
But I'm curious—what is your actual workflow for this when you travel with 4+ people? Do you just stick to spreadsheets and Splitwise? Does one person just act as a dictator and book everything?
I want to keep improving the app based on how people actually plan things in the real world, not just how my friend group does it. If you want to see how I have it set up currently, the link is here:https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/travellsy-group-trip-planner/id6760836412
Would love to hear your group travel survival strategies.
