Hi, I’ve had about 40 hours on the road, but central London roads. Unfortunately, my instructor was, I’d say, taking the total mickey after a while, because we didn’t even manage to get out of 2nd gear, I didn’t cover hillstarts and I haven’t gone on dual carriageway etc. My manoeuvres are solid and I was driving on busy roads. I did a lesson in my hometown a couple of days ago, and practiced with my parents on the road for a bit, and I was so upset, I had to basically go from square one which was changing gears smoothly, clutch control and some theory. Everyone says ‘it will click one day’ but I’ve wasted a lot of time and money to feel like I’m a beginner again and my confidence is low. I have a first test booked in August, which I want to pass as I’m hoping to move away shortly after, but I’m beginning to think it’s unrealistic. I’m aiming to get practice as much as possible, but it depends. What are your thoughts?
Hi, I've just been offered a job, but am a bit confused on what I'd take home, and what other factors I have to consider. For context, I'm a Brit moving to China to teach primary-level English, no previous experience. The offer is 20k before tax, 4k housing allowance (a fapiao/tax invoice is required to make this tax-free, so I'm presuming the allowance will just be taxed if I can't provide it), and 6k flight allowance. I've been reading that I need to consider the difficulty of a fapiao with some landlords, and social contributions, so actually my take-home amount could be less than I initially thought. New tier 1 city. Is this a decent offer? And are there any other factors I need to be careful of, thanks!
