The rhetoric around these shows being “for locals only” is genuinely confusing to me.

Has Phoebe’s team actually said these events are intended to be exclusive to locals? From what I can tell, she wants to do pop-up shows with analog promotion and a smaller, more spontaneous vibe. But she still has to perform somewhere. It’s not like the goal is “only 150 people from Mobile, Alabama and absolutely nobody else.”

I honestly don’t see why it matters where people are from. If you hear about it, can get there in time, and want to experience it, then go for it. That’s kind of the nature of pop-up events.

I just don’t really understand this “local” gatekeeping mentality people suddenly have around it.
