Final Astrophotography Rig Build. Is This Setup Good?

This is going to be my final astrophotography rig that I’ll be building over time. Total cost comes out to around ₹4.5 lakh (~$4.5k).

Rig list:

  • ZWO AM3 Harmonic EQ GoTo Mount – ₹1,45,200
  • ZWO FF65 ED APO – ₹82,200
  • ZWO ASI 585MC Air
  • SVBONY SV241 Pro Astro Power Controller – ₹15,060
  • ZWO TC40 Carbon Fiber Tripod – ₹30,000
  • Optolong L-eXtreme 2-inch Filter – ₹21,000

I mainly plan to do deep-sky imaging from Bortle 4-6 skies with occasional trips to darker locations. Before I start buying everything, I wanted to ask does this setup look balanced overall? Any bottlenecks, unnecessary parts, or things you’d personally change at this budget?

Would really appreciate feedback from experienced imagers before I fully commit

What am I missing in this Veil Nebula processing?

I processed this Veil Nebula image in Siril + GIMP and I am not fully happy with the result, so I’d love some feedback on what I could improve in processing.

My workflow was roughly:

  • Background extraction in Siril
  • Green noise removal
  • Created a starless version
  • Edited the nebula in GIMP using some Gaussian blur, shadow adjustments, and levels
  • Darkened the image a bit
  • Added the stars back in Siril
  • Reduced star brightness by adjusting the black point

I feel like something still looks off but I can’t exactly tell what. I mainly use Siril + GIMP, so I would appreciate advice specific to those tools if possible.

Hey everyone, I’m planning my first proper astrophotography rig and wanted some feedback before I start buying everything.

Current planned setup:

William Optics RedCat 51

Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi GoTo Mount

50mm guide scope

ZWO ASI120MM Mini (guide cam)

Svbony SV241 DC + USB hub

Optolong L-eXtreme filter

Canon 1200D (main camera)

Mainly planning to do deep-sky imaging of nebulae and larger galaxies.

Does this look like a balanced setup overall? Any compatibility issues or weak points I should know about before committing? Also wondering if the Star Adventurer GTi is enough long term for the RedCat + guiding setup. Would really appreciate honest opinions

Hi, I am based in Mumbai and I am trying to buy the Seestar S50 but most sellers here are saying its out of stock or even discontinued. Has anyone in India recently bought one or knows a reliable seller (online or offline)? Would really appreciate any help!
