Hey all,

I would like to announce that we are accepting applications for the mod team. I am currently the only active moderator and I cannot run this community alone. I am looking for people who will simply ensure the rules are followed.

It would be a pretty laid back gig. You guys are all super awesome and I have not seen one intentional rule violation in the 6 years I've been the one running this. You probably wouldn't have to do much. I just want to ensure I have someone to assist if I need to take a hiatus or anything.

A few weeks ago, I made a post that was very emotionally charged about the use of AI. I stated that the mod team "secretly hates" those who use AI.

Upon reflection and research, it has become clear to me that I have taken the wrong stance. The issues I was concerned about had nothing to do with AI itself and everything to do with those tech billionaires. I was speaking words of hatred and resentment when I hadn't educated myself on the subject enough.

I see the errors of my previous stance and I am here to state publicly that I support practitioners of Technomancy in any way they choose to practice. It is not my place to tell you what you can and cannot do. I may not personally use AI at this time for my practice, but showing hatred towards those that do is just another distraction from the fact that they're gonna control the future of work if we don't do something.

I am deeply and truly sorry for acting this way and it is not in line with the original vision I had for this place. I am making a vow to educate myself further on this subject and I am making a vow not to speak this way towards this community again.

You guys are what makes this community run. Without you, it wouldn't exist. Stick around if I haven't scared you off. This is bigger than me. We're among the few active subreddits for this practice and I'd like to think we're collectively pioneering something new.

A few weeks ago I made a post in my subreddit taking an Anti-AI stance, immediately was told to come here and I must admit that I held a lot of resentment towards this space at first. Some of the things you guys mentioned when I asked what this space was supposed to be for really stuck with me and I have done some research on my own.

In my personal life I'm proudly communist and I understand now that the issue is still and always is the Billionaires. No matter the industry.

I no longer have a desire to light a cigarette inside a data center. I don't claim to know what we should do about the water or the rich. I'm not very well versed in communist theory and I know that I need to be soon.

Someone mentioned fully automated luxury communism. That sounded really cool.

I was a dick to you guys and I'm truly sorry. Please accept my highest regards and I hope to continue learning from you.

I mean no disrespect, I am merely concerned about the same things every anti-AI leftist is concerned about.

If any of you can give me a solid explanation as to why you support AI, I'm absolutely willing to hear you out on grounds of public discourse, and I just really wanna know why. It's confusing to me.

I know I can't stop you, but I would prefer if you write the response yourself. I want to know your thoughts, not an AI's. :)

Greetings technomancers. I've been a bit of a backseat moderator most of my tenure here and while that has seemed to work really well, I believe it is time for a change.

Not a major one. I'm just adding a rule and a disclaimer to the list.

The new rule is: If you are using generative AI in tandem with your posts, you must disclose that in your post.

The disclaimer is: The official position regarding AI that the moderators of r/Technomancy take and stand on firmly is that generative AI is the worst possible invention and that all data centers need to be demolished and replaced with public parks. However, we are not going to force you not to use it. You have free will. If you use your free will to contribute to humanity running out of clean, fresh drinking water within the next decade (this is factual, not alarmism), have at it. The mods secretly hate you for it.

AI is not spiritual in any way, and it is the opinion of the mod team that it has no place in magick or technomancy. It is nothing more than a grotesque reflection of our most disgusting aspects as a species.
