Birth date discrepancy between birth certificate and passport for Express Entry / PR

Hi everyone,

I'm preparing my Express Entry PR application and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with a similar situation.

My documents are split into two consistent sets:

- My birth certificate (issued by my country of birth) shows June 1, 1990.

- My passport from that same country also shows June 1, 1990.

- However, all official documents from another country where I later immigrated (passport, population registry, immigration records, etc.) consistently show January 1, 1990. And I maintain it all over the docs.

So it's not random inconsistencies—each country's documents are internally consistent, but the two countries disagree with each other.

I also have an immigration document from many years ago showing that the second country was already using the January date at the time I immigrated there, so the discrepancy appears to be a long-standing administrative issue rather than something recent.

I have never used multiple identities or attempted to hide the discrepancy. I plan to disclose everything and submit:

- Birth certificate

- Passport from my country of birth

- Passport from the second country

- Population registry records

- A Letter of Explanation

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone had a similar discrepancy and still been approved for PR?

  2. Did IRCC accept your explanation, or did they require you to correct the foreign records first?

  3. Did you receive an ADR or a Procedural Fairness Letter because of it?

  4. If you didn't correct the foreign records before applying, what was the outcome?

I'm looking for real experiences from people who went through Express Entry or another IRCC permanent residence program.

Thank you.
