Do people in your country expect marriage after X amount of time dating?
As a Colombian, I've always found it weird hearing conversations surrounding marriage coming from the US. Like "they've been dating for years now, but he still hasn't asked her to marry" or "She should find someone else if he's not willing to put a ring on her finger".
Of course, some people in Colombia get married, but there's usually not an expectation for people to get married. I have met many, many couples who have been together for decades, have children, live together, but are not formally married, without anyone making a big deal out of it. There are also not many taboos about having children while not married or such, despite being a very christian country.
How is marriage seen in your country?
