Hello again, I'm back briefly from my time covering the Viewership figures of 'Gladiators' 3rd BBC Series as they released earlier this year on this subreddit. And I wanted to talk about a Little project I've been working on.

That is, I've been attempting (emphasis on attempt) to go through some old sources and find the Viewership for the Entire UK Series. For the ITV (1992-2000), Sky (2008-2009) and BBC (2024-present) series into one cohesive chart. As a lot of the numbers are unknown or have, sadly, been lost to time.

This project is FAR from completed (As unfortunately, a lot of the info is locked behind paywalls I'm simply not in the position to justify paying for at the minute), but I wanted to share what I had collected thus far.

For some context, In the following list, If a number is 'N/A', that means right now I have not found it. Nor have I found the best possible source for it. So, I consider it possible that I could find a better source at some point and uncover the number. Therefore it's blank.

If it is a number with a lesser than sign beside it (for example, <8.57 Million), that means I HAVE found what I believe to be the best possible source, but 'Gladiators' was not listed, so I have listed it as below the lowest number on that chart. (So for this number, I found the best possible chart, that being ITV's top 30 programmes for that week, and Gladiators wasn't listed. The lowest number on that list was 8.57 Million, however. Therefore, we know definitively it is lower than that.)

Just useful to understand what this means lol. Cause I have my own little systems to understand things and I didn't want it to be quite as much of a confusing mess as it may otherwise appear.

So, what can we gleam from the final full results? Mostly a lot of the same, in terms of abstract understanding. Gladiators is still very much fine, if not the juggernaut it was at launch 2 years ago.

In terms if averages:

7-Day:
Series 1 (2024): 6.17 Million.
Series 2 (2025): 4.73 Million.
Series 3 (2026): 4.13 Million.

28-day:
Series 1 (2024): 6.85 Million.
Series 2 (2025): 5.27 Million.
Series 3 (2026): 4.57 Million.

Which means Gladiators has a healthy, steady audience of roughly just over 4 Million. Not bad at all, especially for 2026.

You may also note, from the chart above, that more often than not 'Gladiators' was not only charting in the BBC's Top Ten broadcasts, but was also charting in the Total top 10 for over half of the Season. Which is the prime real estate of modern broadcastinf Telly here in the UK.

And while ratings have declined, the decline does appear to be softening, especially from 2 to 3. I would estimate we have found, roughly, the shows ratings floor for the time being.

I have almost no doubt that Series 4 will decline again somewhat. But I expect the fall to be significantly less of a gap. And if I am right, then Gladiators will stabalise in a comfy, healthy place.

And so long as the series retains its strong ROI (Return Of Investmnent), with things like merchandise and event sales, aswell as international versions of the brand like on Amazon, then I expect we have many more brawls in the Arena to look forwards to.
