Pathology after surgery

As mentioned the other day, had the catheter out. More importantly, yesterday had a meet with the urologist to review the pathology report.

Confirmation of the cancer of course, but "all margins clear" and clean lymph nodes was great news. So now it's wait and see. Next PSA test will be in apx 6 weeks. Fingers crossed.

Surgeon seemed pleased. Not half as pleased as I was.

Pain killers?

Question for those who’ve been down this path.

Headed into the clinic tomorrow to have this f*****g catheter removed. Good riddance.

District nurse suggested I take some pain meds beforehand as the removal can be uncomfortable. Fair enough.

Trying to decide what to take. Options are Paracetamol (Panadol) 500mg x 2, or codeine (codeine phosphate 30mg).

Since surgery have only needed Panadol once or twice daily. But wondering if this is the right time to bust out the codeine.

I know that forum advice is not medical advice. What I’m wondering is;
How uncomfortable was catheter removal for you?
Did you take any pain killers in advance of the procedure? What did you use, and did it work?

Cheers all

Post surgery pain management

4 days post surgery (radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer) and am truly pleased at the pain management qualities of the Bloom JFG 23%.

Using a modern vape pen at a relatively cool 177C gives a very pleasant sativa effect with excellent relaxation of the abdominal muscles - significantly alleviating pain.

To use an old cliche…. “Just what the doctor ordered”.

New to this community

Greetings from Down Under. Been reading all your posts for several days now and wanted to applaud the courage and mutual support I see here.

Was recently diagnosed with PC, scheduled for surgery in about 9 days. And then the long grind of recovery, catheter, diapers, and regaining a semblance of continence.

Here’s hoping I have half the grace that so many of you have. My sincere best wishes for full recovery for everyone here.
