Planting after Tree Removed
Well, we lost one of our sugar maples this week in high winds. Most of the right side came down and it wasn't salvagable. I'm a horrible plant parent and first time homeowner looking for advise. What could/should be planted to provide balance to the yard and a bit of privacy? We're located in Somerset County, NJ. I really liked the height of this tree and would prefer someonthing that won't get over 30ft. We've got enough big boys in the back yard.
The tree has been removed and stump ground. The driveway is +/- 65ft long and this tree was about half way. Trying to be mindful the overhead lines and property line.
Looking for guidance on:
- Species (native)
- Planting window (spring/fall)
- Should we wait a bit?
- Planting around existing root system an issue?
TIA!
