Merino for swimwear?

For swimming I usually use my 100% polyester Speedo-lined shorts. They're great for spending all day at the beach or out on a boat. Recently I stumbled across Smartwool lined shorts and picked up a couple of pairs. They're really nice for active use, and I've already done a few hikes in them, so I thought, why not swim in them?

The liner is a lyocell/merino blend brief, which I've found very comfortable, and the shorts themselves look casual enough to wear around town.

I'll be taking them to Malta for a week in September, and I'm thinking of completely ditching dedicated swimwear.

After looking into it, it seems swimming in merino is more common than I thought. Even so, I'm still a little concerned about damaging the fabric through repeated exposure to salt water, strong sun, and pool chemicals.

If you've swum in merino, I'd love to hear about your experience:

* What garment was it?

* Freshwater, sea, or pool?

* Did repeated swimming affect its durability?

I'm also interested in whether people intentionally use merino for swimming, or if it's more something that happens out of convenience.

The Great Onebag Underwear Thread

I believe underwear is one of the most overlooked parts of a onebag setup. So lets make a proper thread that future onebaggers can refer to.

Let's face it, almost all of us (yes, I'm looking at you, commandos 😅) wear underwear every day, yet we spend hours researching backpacks, jackets and shoes while often giving little thought to what is supporting our manhood or womanhood through airports, hikes, long-haul flights and everything in between.

I'm always tweaking my travel setup, and I've realised underwear has probably had a bigger impact on my comfort than any other item I pack. I'd love to hear what everyone else has settled on after plenty of travel.

- What's your favourite brand?

- What style do you prefer?

- What material do you like?

- How many pairs do you pack for a typical trip?

- How many pairs do you own?

- Any must have features?

- Does your preference change depending on the weather or climate?
