A little glimpse of Moroha in the middle of summer.
"Origami" Hidden Zen Pin System & Moroha Production Status
Hello everyone. Following the recent conceptual sketch reveal of the "Origami," I took note of the community's feedback regarding pinless designs. While I understand the concerns regarding irreversible wear on standard titanium pinless systems, I am also determined to maintain the absolute visual continuity of the handles—which means avoiding standard press-fit pins or exposed screw-type zen pins.
To bridge this gap, I am currently engineering a hidden stop pin system.
The design utilizes a separate, precision-machined module embedded directly into the pivot area of the handle. This module contains the actual stop pin. It is locked into place through a combination of the handle’s internal pocket geometry and the main pivot hardware, ensuring zero displacement during high-impact flipping.
This theoretically solves both the aesthetic issue (keeping the exterior perfectly clean like a pinless design) and the functional issue (preventing irreversible wear on the main titanium handle body, as the module takes the impact).
The Engineering Challenges:
While my CNC engineer and I agree this is theoretically viable, it introduces significant manufacturing hurdles:
1.The module must fit into the handle pocket perfectly to ensure total immobilization. The machining precision required here is a step above standard handle milling.
Producing this insert is essentially like machining a micro-channel handle. It will require at least three separate CNC setups per module, significantly increasing production complexity.
Introducing a modular piece into the handle channel may slightly alter or dampen the sound signature compared to a pure, monolithic channel handle.
We will be moving forward with prototyping this specific mechanism to test its real-world viability and acoustic performance.
Moroha Production Update:
For those waiting on the Moroha, we are nearing the finish line. The blade CNC machining is currently wrapping up, running concurrently with the handle surface finishing. I will be conducting final quality confirmations very soon.
Once the verification of all information is complete, we will finish packaging and shipping within one month.
Thank you all for the feedback and the continued support. Let me know your thoughts on the hidden pin module concept.
