What actually makes a game go viral?

Before you say focus on the story/visuals/gameplay/promotion, I've seen some games with the most primitive graphics, or no storyline, without any promotion pick up thousands of plays.

I am trying to build a personality based game (the ones that facebook was flooded with at some point where people click to find their persona), but its so hard to get people to play and actually share it.

With so many things to focus on in the development process, whats the one item on the to-do list will contribute most to the virality of the game?
